“It was raining and water entered house. I just cleaning while my while two sons were playing at bed. Before also water entered house, never happen such!  Suddenly, from backside the land slided on us. I was covered by land and could not to see anything from under land!
By breaking the fancy of hut and came out, but I could not find my sons! …..” is the spot experience of victim mother.

More than two hundred people died by land sliding in the port city Chittagong in last 3 decades. Nonplanning hill cutting, making slum in foothills, however abnormal monsoon, sea level raising and tree cutting are the reasons of landslide. Last 11 and 12 June, happened 2 times catastrophic landslide in the city surrounded hills and 108 people died!

“ My husband was in door and cleaing the water. I was playing in bed with my baby!..” saying another victim who lost her husband.

By landslide, the life and dream both buried of these family! The marginalized community, living in the foothills received emergency food and help, but none come with permanent solution. Even the hill owner who take regular house rent, did not to repaired the broken houses! Did not supported the victims.

A slum dweller’s plea, “we live hand and mouth ! We are refugee here. This time, our house broken! Some are injured ! If someone support us, would be very helpful….”

Government announced the declaration against hill cutting, but is going same way! So called local elite, hill owners are making and renting the slums. So the life risk of the marginalized community still now remaining ! This is the time to protect the families from poverty and suffering who are still living in the foothills.
