Safe Love Football Match

Sharing information regarding sex and sexuality are not culturally accepted in Bangladesh. Additionally, parents, teachers and community leaders are not comfortable in openly discussing such topics with youth. Although worldwide the adolescent and youth are especially vulnerable to HIV and STI because of their recent pubertal changes, low level of knowledge regarding HIV, poor self control, availability and accessibility to sex workers and risky sexual behavior.

However in the community seniors like partners, teachers, community and religious leaders are highly suspicious of outside ‘interference’ and the dissemination of information on sexuality or STI is not socially accepted. According to the baseline HIV/AIDS survey, 2005; the youth (15-24 age ) in Bangladesh only know well about AIDS; but one fifth population of the country are youth.

The idea of the “Safe life football matech ” came with the main objective to inform and inspire through the messages on HIV, STI, drugs to lead a safe life as football is popular to the youth.
In the football game, all players will wear special jersey with the name of HIV, STI, hepatitis B, C etc. One team promised to save their goal post from HIV, STI etc. When a player gave a goal they broke their promise and they have STI, HIV. As the idea, no team won but lost by getting different diseases. A quiz sheet distributed to all viewers and they got the answer from the messages board, commentary of the game and discussion with their peer. Viewers got prize if they give correct answers.
